A short meditation by Chiara Lubich

[New City Magazine – July 2022, page 9]

When we walk, we have to use our own strength, and we move quite slowly.

If we use a bicycle, we move not only faster but also with less effort. Some of our limbs are practically at rest.

Although pilots fly planes at high speeds, their own effort is minimal. The engines do most of the work.

In space flight, astronauts work still less compared to the technical work of their space capsules

The same is true for our spiritual life. The closer we get to God, the more we are carried by him. Until there is nothing left to do, but to allow ourselves to be carried. Our effort will mostly consist in this.
